Sunday Salon: Of Reading Groups and Challenges

Ah, another Sunday. Time does fly, especially since I just spend the an entire week without reading. Well, I was busy, so sue me!

Anyway, my on-line reading group (the Reading With Becky Bookgroup)has just started with The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, the first in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

I've read this book before, and I loved it, so I'm very excited about reading it again and discussing it. So, I'm going to spend this Sunday reading the first part. It's the first book in almost a year I've been able to read with the group. Either I didn't have the time or I couldn't get my hands on a copy of the book. The last book I attempted to read with the group was a 'did not finish'.

And while we're on the subject of having little time to read, I'm sensing a bit of a problem with keeping up with my challenges. I've got three challenges with deadlines going on, and I'm not sure if I can finish them all in time. Therefore, I've decided to concentrate on one challenge at a time, with the challenge where I own the most books getting read first. This because my over-all goal of 2009 is to read through the unread books that I own, as much as possible. So, having said that, the Romance challenge is the one where I own the most books of. Better said, I own all books on the reading list for that challenge. Next to that, I only have four books to go, all Jane Austen books. So, I'm going on a Jane Austen binge read this week, and I hope to read all four books. And for the curious cats reading this, they are: Emma, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, and Persuasion.

What are you reading this week?
